World Headlines: Nepal and Bangladesh, protest on seizure of UN ship

UN Cargo ship containing Army vehicles, parts of Nepal army, bandgladesh army and pakistan army was seized by Indian Police in kolkata in suspesion on armsKathmandu June 30, 2010-Bangladesh and Nepal have joined hands in protesting seizure by the Indian police of a Karachi-bound ship carrying arms and military equipment returned to Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan after the UN peacekeeping missions in Liberia.

The Nepalese embassy in Dhaka has quoted Nepalese army's rejection of reports by Indian media that the ship detained by Indian authorities on way to Kolkata port contained arms and explosives belonging to Nepali soldiers, deployed on UN missions in Africa, saying its cargo comprised vehicles and their spare parts.

"The cargo belonging to Nepal Army carried on the ship (MV Aegean Glory) comprises three jeeps and a light truck," the embassy quoted Nepal Army spokesman Brigadier-General Ramindra Chhetri as saying. "In addition, there's a container carrying spare parts for the vehicles and generators," Chhetri added.

Air India Express Crash plane Picture at Mangalore airportMANGALORE AIRPORT May 22, 2010-More than 160 people on board confirmed dead by the authority of Indian Government. The  flight of Air India express inbound from Dubai was crashed 6:10 A. M Local Mangalore time on Saturday.

Reports from the various news agencies as follows:

Air India Express flight coming from Dubai today crashed near Mangalore airport while coming in for landing from Dubai into Mangalore on Saturday May 22. It had 169 people including 163 passengers and six crew members aboard and according to an estimation over 100 are feared dead.

Following the mishap the airport has been closed according to the airport authorities. According to preliminary reports the plane had developed a technical snag. Later one of its two engines caught fire and the plane burnt in the air before crashing down.  This happened at 6 am. The flight had left Dubai international airport at around 1.10am (Dubai time).

May 21, 2010 DENVER, Colorado-The father of a Colorado woman who went missing a month ago in Nepal has recovered a laptop computer and journal she left at a hotel.

Twenty-three-year-old Aubrey Sacco of Greeley went missing after setting out for a hike in the Himalayas. Her father and brother have arrived in Nepal to help look for her and have met with officials from the U.S. Embassy.

Red shirts of Thailand against government ralley in BangkokBangkok, Thailand May 19, 2010-Several Red Shirt leaders called off their anti-government protests in Bangkok Wednesday after a large military offensive routed their supporters from a city park where they had amassed.

The leaders could be seen on television addressing a crowd in Lumpini Park saying they wanted to avoid further bloodshed and wanted to turn themselves in.

At least two people, including an Italian, were listed as killed in the clashes, according to the Police Hospital in Bangkok. Another 19 - two journalists among them  were wounded.

Seven anti-government protest leaders had been taken into custody, while several others fled, authorities said. Officials asked protesters, residents and foreigners to head to a nearby stadium if they want to leave.

Still, about 1,000 protesters remained in the park listening to speeches in an area called the main stage.
