Enviroment: five died in landslide in Dhading two still missing

Dhading, Nepal July 05, 2010- Heavy rain washed two houses and killed five and two still missing in Dhading. The bodies of five persons among the seven who went missing in a landslide that occurred in Borang villag of Gumdi VDC, Dhading, Monday morning have been recovered.

The bodies of Tel Maya Gurung, 62, Dilmaya Gurung,31, Tikamaya Gurung, 15, Manmaya Gurung, 13 and Somati Gurung, 7, were found by a team of policemen and locals involved in the search and rescue operations in the area.

Kathmandu July 04, 2010- Major three Political parties of Nepal - Unified CPN (Maoist), NC and CPN (UML) - have agreed to implement the three-point agreement of May 28 in which they had agreed to complete all the remaining tasks of the peace process. The May 28 agreement had led to the extension of Constituent Assembly's term.

The three parties who are scrambling for the leadership of the new government following the resignation of the Madhav Kumar Nepal led government reached to this agreement in a meeting held at the Constituent Assembly (CA) hall in New Baneshwor on Sunday.

UN Cargo ship containing Army vehicles, parts of Nepal army, bandgladesh army and pakistan army was seized by Indian Police in kolkata in suspesion on armsKathmandu June 30, 2010-Bangladesh and Nepal have joined hands in protesting seizure by the Indian police of a Karachi-bound ship carrying arms and military equipment returned to Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan after the UN peacekeeping missions in Liberia.

The Nepalese embassy in Dhaka has quoted Nepalese army's rejection of reports by Indian media that the ship detained by Indian authorities on way to Kolkata port contained arms and explosives belonging to Nepali soldiers, deployed on UN missions in Africa, saying its cargo comprised vehicles and their spare parts.

"The cargo belonging to Nepal Army carried on the ship (MV Aegean Glory) comprises three jeeps and a light truck," the embassy quoted Nepal Army spokesman Brigadier-General Ramindra Chhetri as saying. "In addition, there's a container carrying spare parts for the vehicles and generators," Chhetri added.

 

Nepal News: Nepal will allow to adopt Nepalese children soon

An Adopted child from Nepal with smiling faceKathmandu, June 30, 2010- One of the poorest country in the world with rich culture and heritage is mulling amendments that would allow internationally distinguished foreign nationals to adopt Nepalese children, today’s  daily newspapers  reported.

Officials at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare (MoWCSW) have been mulling over some amendments in the procedures regarding inter-country adoption, which, once implemented, will pave the way for foreign nationals to adopt Nepali children of their choice.

Existing international standards and practices and Nepal's existing laws prohibit any foreign nationals from selecting the children of their choice for adoption.
